Spatiality in Latin American Neo-baroque narrative and its perverse pleasures
.
"We were born according to Mother at midnight during as festas Juninas. A clean bright night full of stars and balloons carrying messages to heaven. Our father has always been a point of discrepancy as we were really never told who he was, but hints from Gerusa ( the off and on second cook at the brothel where Mother was queen), seems to point that it could had been one of three men or in the case of Magenta one of two, as it was well know at that time that the bishop's sperms were the fastest in Sao Paublo and east of Minhas Gerais. These three characters slept with Mother the day of our gestation. We always supposed that because I was born first i was somehow connected to Monsignor whileMagenta shared in her constitution, the sperms of both the Minister of culture and the chief of Police - that will explain her ability to command, her aptitude with sharp objects and other defensive mechanisms and her fancy diction and love for precious art object, in contrast my dreamy and ecstatic nature, prone to live between worlds and other metaphysical lucubrations were the product of an army of saints, angels and martyrs living in possibility under Monsignor's sperm."
